PITEUS is a family-owned business dedicated to the production of wines, cava, and vermouths with vineyards located between Cardona and Navás (El Bages), and also in Corbera (El Penedès).

Since its inception in 1490 the company has been run by the Canals family, so it is safe to say that wine making runs in their blood.

The company is currently headed by two Canals Gironès siblings, Josep and Margarita, along with Margarita Mitjans, Josep’s wife.

In turn, their children are keen to continue the family tradition within the wine making business.

Together the family works with passion and enthusiasm to continue producing products that customers will enjoy.

In 1987 the Canals family decided to further expand the business and purchased the El Llobet estate just outside of Cardona. This estate was once owned by a farmer from Sant Llorenc de Morunys, a nearby town. The people from this town were called “Los Piteus” and we decided that this would be the perfect name for the wines produced at the estate, thus Piteus wines was born.
